Children's Author Judy Blume: Honor your mother with a contribution to biggest destroyer of motherhood

Judyblume In a fundraising letter to supporters, Planned Parenthood is proudly including a letter from their friend Judy Blume, famous children's author of "Blubber", "Are You There God?  It's Me, Margaret", "Forever", "Freckle Juice" and the "Fudge Books".  Ms. Blume has been described as "puberty's bartender" (now there's a title we can all covet!) and some of her books have been the target of parent--not government--generated book bans from schools and public libraries.  Ms. Blume and Planned Parenthood have much in common: chiefly, the robbing of childhood innocence.  So, it's no wonder that the two would step out in this venture together.

It's the timing and wording of the letter that is so utterly disqusting, ironic and shocking: a Mother's Day appeal for contributions to an organization that robs motherhood, mocks womanhood and most of all destroys children: the very joy of motherhood!  Here is the letter:

Time to Ramp it Up: Call State House Budget Leaders Today!

Last week, Life of the Party urged pro-lifers and fiscal conservatives alike to contact state house and senate budget leaders and tell them to cut the entire $9 million for what the abortion industry euphemistically calls "family planning"  from the state budget.  The government has no business funding the abortion industry under any euphamism.

We became aware of the $9 million by watching the actions of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, as they were doing their best to activate their supporters in raising a stink about the state senate's budget proposal.  The state senate was proposing to cut $1 million, which NARAL disclosed was 10% of the state's generous contribution (via your tax dollars) to the abortion industry.  So the state senate budget proposal left $9 million in tact.

Now, NARAL is ramping up their "urgent action" calls, because in their minds, the state house's budget proposal is "even worse":

The House budget not only calls for a 10% reduction in family planning funding in the first year of the budget, but will completely eliminate funding for the program in the second year.

This might sound like good news to us, but lest we become too comfortable with our legislators, let's keep in mind, they still plan to only cut 10% this year, and according to NARAL in their action alert letter to pro-abortion activists, the state house is doing so because they are counting on federal dollars to cover the bill next year:

The House budget was written under the assumption that next year money from the federal government will arrive that will cover the proposed elimination of state funding for birth control.

The radical pro-abortion minority forces are highly motivated to keep our tax dollars flowing to support their industry.  In the same letter from NARAL, they boasted:

NARAL Pro-Choice Washington activists have sent thousands of contacts to the legislature in support of full, ongoing funding for birth control and other family planning services. Budget leaders from the House and Senate are now taking the budget to a conference committee to decide on a final version.

Will pro-lifers, middle-grounders and fiscal conservatives allow the radical pro-abortion voices to be louder and exert more pressure so that the state and federal governments continue to confiscate our money and feed the abortion industry?

You still have time to contact the House and Senate Budget Leaders:

Breaking: Everett Planned Parenthood Closed Early Friday

E40DFL%20030609%20-%20001 For Immediate Release: (From 40 Days for Life, Everett)

Everett, WA--40 Days for Life coordinator, Schola Frisinger reported early Friday afternoon, that the Everett Planned Parenthood office closed their doors early today.  Mrs. Frisinger arrived at Noon to cover an hour shift of the ongoing prayer vigil of the 40 Days for Life campaign.  “It appeared to be business as usual as clients were entering and exiting the clinic,” said Frisinger, “with one small exception to the usual: the door was propped open.”

At 12:15, a staffer closed the front door and then locked it.  The Everett Planned Parenthood's normal business hours on Fridays are 8 A.M.--4:30 P.M., according to the Planned Parenthood website, which is consistent with the observations of 40 Days for Life prayer volunteers.  It has never been observed that the clinic closes for lunch.  One by one, Frisinger noticed staffers were exiting to their cars after the door was locked.  Finally, Frisinger asked one of the staffers about what was happening and if they were closing.  "Yes," the staffer answered, "there's a very ugly smell in there."

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion in America.  40 Days for Life volunteers pray daily for an end to abortion in America, especially in their own communities, holding peaceful prayer vigils outside of local abortion clinics.  The Everett 40 Days for Life campaign has held its third 40 day peaceful prayer vigil on the public sidewalk, directly in front of Planned Parenthood of Everett (1509 32nd St.).  Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the world.

The current campaign in Everett is coordinated nationally, with 130 communities in 42 U.S. States, four Canadian provinces, Australia and Northern Ireland for the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history.  This spring’s 40 day campaign began on Wednesday, March 25 and continues through this Sunday, April 5.  Prayer volunteers in Everett pray daily for the direct intervention of God, to discontinue the direct killing of innocent life that takes place on a daily basis inside of the Everett Planned Parenthood.

Why We Must Oppose Rape and Incest Exceptions

Ed Meet Ed Mohs, a husband, father, grandfather, engineer, local pro-life activist and  Republican PCO.  Ed was concieved through rape, and is a reminder of the personhood of every child in the womb, no matter the circumstances of their conception.

If the child in the womb is a person, so must it be that a child in the womb who is a product of rape.  When politicians say they're "pro-life", but with the exceptions of rape and incest and health/life of the mother, they leave these people out and fail to make the case that any pre-born children are worthy of protection.  In fact, this is what happened in Roe vs. Wade, when Texas and other state prohibitions on abortions were examined in light of the question of whether or not the fetus was entitled to Fourteenth Amendment protections as a person.  Here it is from that famous court opinion, delivered by Justice Blackmun:

When Texas urges that a fetus is entitled to Fourteenth Amendment protection as a person, it faces a dilemma. Neither in Texas nor in any other State are all abortions prohibited. Despite broad proscription, an exception always exists. The exception contained in Art. 1196, for an abortion procured or attempted by medical advice for the purpose of saving the life of the mother, is typical. But if the fetus is a person who is not to be deprived of life without due process of law, and if the mother's condition is the sole determinant, does not the Texas exception appear to be out of line with the Amendment's command?

If there will ever be any challenge to Roe vs. Wade, it must be done by establishing the personhood of all preborn children...no exceptions.  Some say that this isn't pragmatic enough, that we must "chip away" at Roe.  Nonsense.  This will put us right back to where we started.

But putting aside the legal questions, let us remember that by accepting the idea that it is "pro-life" even when one has these "exceptions", we leave out people like Ed.  See also, Rebecca Kiessling.

Family Planning Budget Cut Talking Points

We've had some questions from folks about what they can say when they call the budget leaders in the State House and Senate.  Here are some ideas:

  • I know WA State is faced with tough decisions in light of the $9 billion deficit.
  • I believe WA State should discontinue its funding of so called "family planning" programs, which are in fact, abortion and contraception.  These methods actually encourage reckless behavior like promiscuity, and give young people the false impression that they are "safe" from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, when in fact most abortions happen becuase their contraceptives fail and STDs have been on the rise as contraception has become more widely available.  (You can state as little or as much of these arguments as you think you have time for).
  • I oppose my tax dollars being used for abortion and/or abortion providers, and I know many of our citizens do.  It's wrong for the state to fund programs that many of its citizens find morally objectionable.
  • Cutting "family planning" from the budget will save the state at least $9 million.

WA State Gov't Spending $9 Million on Promotion of Abortion and Promiscuity--Even in a time of financial crisis

Washington State has a reported $9 BILLION deficit.  Obviously, major cuts in spending are necessary.

But NARAL Pro-Choice WA is whining that the senate budget proposal includes a cut of $1 Million, and then goes on to point out that this is just 10% of the state's budget for "family planning".  This means, that if this proposal stands, our state government will STILL spend $9 million on what the abortion industry calls "family planning", otherwise known as abortion and contraception.

And we have reason to believe the "$1 million=10%" might be more of the Abortion Industry's fuzzy math.  In other words, the percent might be lower, and the state's reckless spending might be at least double what NARAL's figures imply.  In 2007, through DSHS, the state gave all of the Planned Parenthood affiliates in Washington a combined $23 million.  Planned Parenthood is the main recipient of the state's "family planning" budget and the #1 abortion provider in the world.

But even assuming that NARAL's figures are correct, $9 million dollars on government funded "family planning" is a bill we can't afford!  We can't afford to continue this reckless spending.  We can't afford $9 million or more on frivolous (pardon the phrase) sexual services like the distribution of condoms and harmful chemicals at public expense to facilitate promiscuity.  And we certainly can't afford the results of this frivolous spending on reckless behavior:  Increased spread of disease, unintentional pregnancy, social dysfunction, and an increased bottom-line profit for Planned Parenthood from the killing of prenatal children. This is not speculation. It’s what the money actually does.

The untold thousands of women who are still today, struggling to recover emotionally from the recognition that they participated in the killing of their own children is a tragedy of unaccountable proportions.  For this reason alone, because it is being done with our tax dollars, requires our action.

If not for your pro-life convictions, if not for your pity on the young--and often minority--men and women who are unsuspecting victims of Planned Parenthood, then at least for your wallet, your bank account, your retirement.  Contact State and House Budget leadership members listed below.  Tell them to cut not just 10%, but ALL of the family planning budget.  Tell them you don't want your tax dollars to go to programs you find morally objectionable.

NARAL is rallying the troops "in full force" now to save their "10%" from getting cut.  Let's show our representatives that we outnumber the pro-abortion forces!

State Budget Cutting: Why not cut funding for Planned Parenthood?

Fellow WA pro-life blogger, Mary Emanuel responds to Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest CEO Christine Charbonneau (who personally pulls in $250,000/yr.) and her plea for the state of Washington to continue it's multi-million dollar funding of "family planning", of which her organization is the largest recipient.

Mary's response is a guest column at HeraldNet, the online publication of the Everett Herald.

Harsh Words for Senator Brownback

If you thought I was being harsh, take a look at what Fr. Euteneuer, President of Human Life International, has to say:

I have often said that false Catholics, whether they be Cardinals, politicians or janitors, are the ones who have the most to account for on the Day of Judgment when they will have to account for ignoring Christ in His "least brethren," the unborn. Whether through advocacy of the evil (like Sebelius) or negligence in stopping it (like Brownback), they have blood on their hands. They've been given everything the Church has to offer: the teaching, the sacraments, the example of the saints and the grace to stand against Satan and all his works and all his empty promises. In other words, they know better, and the Biblical warning applies to them: "To whom much has been given, much will be required." Cowards and turncoats beware.
